Lettuce Cospenza

Stability and predictability in lettuce cultivation

Working with the 'Cospenza' variety from Enza Limited, farmers prioritize predictability above all else. This early-maturing Romaine is a reliable asset for those aiming to enter the market as quickly as possible without wasting time battling diseases. In high humidity or fluctuating temperatures—conditions where other varieties often suffer from downy mildew—'Cospenza' maintains healthy leaves and excellent marketability.

Field performance and crop protection

• Disease resistance: Genetic resistance to downy mildew and lettuce mosaic virus eliminates the need for excessive fungicide applications. This significantly lowers production costs and simplifies crop management.
• Operational efficiency: The Romaine type features a compact, well-formed head. During harvest, these heads are easy to package and stack tightly in crates, minimizing mechanical damage during transport.
• Turnover speed: Early maturity allows for maximum utilization of greenhouse or open-field space, freeing up land for the next rotation ahead of competitors.

The Dutch breeding expertise of Enza Limited is fully evident here: you aren't just getting seeds, but a tool for generating predictable revenue. The crop doesn't require complex interventions—standard agrotechnics and proper irrigation allow the plant to achieve its full potential without surprises. For those who prioritize leaf quality and want to minimize losses during the packaging phase, this variety remains a go-to choice in the Romaine lineup.
