The Barlak salad is an attractive variety of leaf lettuce with brightly colored leaves, which are light green at the base and dark red at the top due to strong anthocyanin coloring. The leaves are small and elliptical, forming a semi-upright rosette that is 12-15 cm high and 15-18 cm in diameter. The weight of one rosette ranges from 115 to 200 grams, ensuring a good yield with minimal care efforts.
This variety is characterized by mid-maturity and high yield—ranging from 2.1 to 4.3 kg per square meter. Barlak is resistant to bolting, which allows it to maintain leaf quality for a longer period. Due to its hardiness and resistance, the lettuce is successfully grown both in open ground and in greenhouses, providing fresh greens from May to September with sowing at different times.
Salad Barlak is valued not only for its decorative appearance but also for its beneficial properties: the leaves contain a variety of vitamins and minerals, making it an excellent choice for healthy eating. It is suitable for fresh consumption as well as for preparing various dishes where fresh and aromatic greens are required.
