The Constanta lettuce is a semi-head, crunchy lettuce variety of the Lollo Rosso type, featuring bright burgundy-colored leaves with a smooth, slightly blistered surface that are colored from tip to base. The plant forms a medium-sized open rosette with tender, crunchy, and juicy leaves of a pleasant glossy shade. Head weight can reach up to 600 grams, with a maturity period of about 45-50 days from seedling transplantation to harvesting. This variety is intended for fresh consumption and suitable for processing into salad mixes.

Constanta is distinguished by high resistance to downy mildew (Bremia lactucae) of various strains, internal necrosis, lettuce yellows, as well as tip burn and bolting. Thanks to high plasticity and a prolonged start of bolting, the variety ensures a guaranteed yield throughout a long harvesting period. It is successfully grown in open ground from early April to September, as well as year-round in closed ground, making it universal for various climatic conditions and soil types.

To form a powerful head, regular and regulated irrigation is necessary, excluding waterlogging and soil drying out. Plant care includes loosening, weeding, and thinning dense seedlings if needed. The variety is characterized by high growth rate, rich dark coloration, and excellent tender taste. It possesses useful and dietary qualities, making it ideal for use in fresh salads. Particularly successful during summer cultivation, as at high temperatures it does not bolt and does not elongate into a stem.
