Lettuce BLOOMBERG

Reliable Iceberg yields: insights on the Bloomberg variety

When selecting a hybrid for commercial lettuce production, specifically the Iceberg type, finding the balance between head density and disease resistance is the main challenge. It is the kind of hybrid that forgives minor agronomic errors while consistently maintaining a premium market appearance.

Agronomics and plant health

What stands out immediately when working with this hybrid is its resilience. Under field conditions, Bloomberg shows high resistance to Downy Mildew and Lettuce Mosaic Virus. Additionally, its resistance to lettuce aphids is a major advantage: the plants are less attractive to pests, simplifying routine field monitoring.

Field performance

• Head development: The light green color looks fresh and vibrant at the point of sale. The heads are dense and hold up well during transport, maintaining their structure without bruising.
• Uniformity: Bloomberg is exceptionally consistent. During harvest, grading is rarely an issue, as the vast majority of heads meet the required size and shape standards, reducing labor time.
