Lettuce ALZEVIR

Technical Specifications of Alzevir

Alzevir by Enza Limited represents a specialized breeding solution in the Oak Leaf lettuce segment. The genetic profile of this hybrid focuses heavily on mitigating physiological disorders common in intensive cultivation systems. A key technical advantage is its high resistance to internal necrosis, a condition often triggered by temperature fluctuations and calcium imbalances.

Phytosanitary Profile and Resistance

The breeders at Enza Zaden have prioritized pathogen defense in this variety. Alzevir exhibits comprehensive resistance to Bremia lactucae (downy mildew). This is critical for both professional greenhouse operations and open-field farming, as it significantly reduces the necessity for fungicide applications, thereby lowering operational costs and increasing the yield safety margin.

Agronomic Parameters

• Plant Type: Oak Leaf, forming a dense and aesthetically pleasing rosette.
• Size: The average head weight is calibrated to meet standard retail packaging requirements.
• Adaptability: The genetic foundation ensures stable development of the rosette even under suboptimal light conditions, reflecting the precision of Dutch breeding standards.

By opting for Alzevir, growers achieve predictable outcomes: the absence of internal tissue damage (internal necrosis) and high marketability, which minimizes losses during transport and post-harvest handling.
