Smooth brome Sayan

Reliable Yields in Challenging Climates

The 'Sayan' smooth brome variety, developed by the Siberian Federal Scientific Center of Agro-BioTechnologies, is a specialized solution for establishing long-term hay and pasture meadows. Given its ability to recover rapidly after mowing and its intense tillering, this variety is an excellent choice for farmers operating in regions with continental climates.

Agronomic Profile and Practical Use

With plant heights ranging from 100–120 cm, the variety ensures a high yield of green mass per hectare. Its extensive root system allows it to stabilize soil effectively and withstand periods of drought, making it a robust performer in varying environmental conditions.

• Forage Production: The primary application is the creation of high-protein forage. Its high regrowth capacity allows for two full cuttings per season when managed with proper agronomic practices.
• Land Reclamation: 'Sayan' is highly suitable for sowing on erosion-prone slopes. The dense sod it forms acts as a biological anchor, preventing soil degradation and water runoff.
• Grazing: Due to its nutritional profile and palatability, it is a preferred option for pasture improvement. The variety maintains resilience under intensive grazing and recovers quickly, ensuring consistent feed availability throughout the season.

Farmers choose 'Sayan' for its adaptability to various soil types and its ability to provide stable results in both commercial livestock operations and integrated crop-livestock systems. It is a proven asset for those looking to improve the sustainability and productivity of their forage land.
