Description Roksolana
The buckwheat variety Roksolana was developed jointly by the Podolsk State Agricultural-Technical Academy and the Moldovan Agricultural University using the method of parental-group selection from material obtained through pre-sowing gamma irradiation of seeds of green-flowered forms. This medium-maturing variety has been included in the State Register of Plant Varieties since 2000 and belongs to the vulgaris subspecies, variety alata. The vegetation period is 80-84 days, flowering begins on day 28-30. Plants reach a height of 93-105 cm, have 10-11 nodes on the stem, and 2-4 branches, of which 2-3 are first-order. Flowers are white or pale-pink, medium-sized; fruits are large, brown with patterned markings. The 1000-seed mass is 33-34 g, uniformity is 87-94%, and hulling percentage is 24-25%. Protein content in the grain reaches 15-16%. The groats and porridge from this variety are light-brown and possess excellent taste qualities.

The optimal sowing time for Roksolana in the Western Forest-Steppe region is the first decade of May, preferably using wide-row planting. Seeds should be well-sorted, large, and heavy. Before sowing, it is recommended to treat seeds against fusarium, peronosporosis, gray mold, and other diseases using agents such as TUR, manganese sulfate, copper sulfate, zinc sulfate, and boric acid. Sowing should be carried out when soil temperature reaches 10-12 °C and there is no threat of frost. Sowing rate depends on the sowing method, soil conditions, and variety.

Buckwheat is a valuable cereal crop with significant agricultural importance. To increase yield and productivity, modern agrotechnical measures are applied, including soil preparation, fertilizer application, and biostimulants. The Roksolana variety is distinguished by its high grain technology, resistance to lodging, and good bee visitation, which contributes to successful pollination and yield formation.
