Bird Cherry IRENIE

A vertical accent for your landscape

The 'Iren' bird cherry is a breeding success for those who appreciate structural discipline combined with natural resilience. Developed by the Perm State Agro-Technological University, this cultivar shifts the paradigm of traditional bird cherry trees: instead of a wide-spreading canopy, you get a compact, columnar structure. This makes site maintenance significantly easier, especially in smaller garden spaces.

Maintenance and care

From an owner's perspective, this variety is incredibly low-maintenance. The main argument for 'Iren' is its high drought tolerance. While other ornamental species demand frequent irrigation, 'Iren' maintains its turgor and health effortlessly. Care is minimal: because of its columnar habit, there is no need for complex structural pruning to maintain an aesthetic silhouette. The plant maintains its vertical growth independently, resisting deformation even under heavy rain or snow.

• Ornamental impact: During the blooming season, the tree transforms into a dense 'white column,' making it an ideal choice for alleyways or accent planting.
• Fruit management: The small black berries are strictly ornamental. They do not require harvesting or processing, which spares you the hassle of cleaning up fallen debris from your garden paths.
• Cold hardiness: Developed in Russia, this variety is well-adapted to sharp temperature fluctuations and harsh winters, ensuring a reliable, long-term investment in your landscaping.

If you are looking for a tree that doesn't require constant medical attention or heavy pruning, this variety is a robust and efficient solution for professional landscape management.
