Apple PLATON RENET

Reliable Yields with Reduced Input Costs

The «Renet Platona» apple variety, developed by the SKFNTSSVV, is designed for orchards prioritizing production stability and integrated pest management. Its standout feature is its innate genetic resistance to apple scab and powdery mildew, two of the most damaging diseases in intensive apple production. This resistance allows growers to significantly reduce the frequency of fungicide applications, lowering both operational costs and environmental impact.

Managing Tree Vigor

As a vigorous variety, «Renet Platona» develops a broad, rounded-pyramidal crown. In high-density planting schemes, rigorous crown management is essential. Strategic pruning is required to maintain light penetration, which is vital for fruit coloration—specifically the characteristic crimson blush on the light green skin—and uniform fruit development. Proper canopy structure ensures that the 150–200g fruit reach their full market potential.

Storage and Marketability

Designed as a winter apple, «Renet Platona» excels in post-harvest longevity. The fruit, featuring crisp white to greenish-white flesh, maintains excellent structural integrity throughout the winter months. Its consistent 150–200g size and uniform round-cylindrical shape make it a high-demand item for both supermarket shelves and wholesale export. The ability to store the fruit for an extended period gives growers the flexibility to wait for optimal market conditions and peak pricing.

• Economic Impact: Superior resistance to common fungal pathogens significantly cuts chemical intervention costs.
• Market Specs: The 150–200g size is highly sought after by commercial retailers.
• Storage Quality: Excellent shelf life ensures the harvest can be marketed well into the winter season.
