Moscow Black grape belongs to table varieties with early ripening and is characterized by vigorous bushes with large leaves, which can be three- and five-lobed, medium or deeply dissected. The vegetative period is about 119 days, which allows obtaining a crop in a short time. This variety differs in increased winter hardiness and resistance to such diseases as oidium and gray rot, while susceptibility to downy mildew is moderate.
Clusters of Moscow Black are large, conical in shape, often winged and of medium density, with a weight of about 250 grams. Berries are large, elongated-oval with a widening at the base, black in color with a dense skin covered with a strong waxy bloom, which ensures high transportability of fruits. The pulp is juicy and fleshy, the taste is pleasant, which makes this variety popular for fresh consumption.
The yield of the variety is high and can reach 240-320 centners per hectare depending on growing conditions. Sugar content of berries reaches 21%, which gives them a sweet and rich taste. Pruning to 4-7 buds is recommended for optimal development and fruiting. Moscow Black is a universal variety suitable for cultivation in open and closed ground, thanks to its adaptability and resistance to adverse factors.
