KOSOROTOVSKIY

Kosorotovskiy is an old Don region table-technical grape variety with a medium ripening period, presumably arisen from a natural cross between Pukhlyakovskiy and Plavay varieties. It belongs to the ecological-geographical group of grape varieties of the Black Sea basin and is widely distributed in the Rostov region. Leaves of this variety are large, coarse, wavy-funnel-shaped, five-lobed with a wide blunt central lobe, matte and reticulate-wrinkled, with dense cobwebby pubescence underneath. Flowers are perfect, which contributes to good pollination and crop formation.

Clusters of Kosorotovskiy are medium-sized, cylindrical, often winged, dense or very dense. Berries are of medium or large size, oval, greenish-white, acquiring a light yellow hue at full ripeness. Skin is of medium thickness, covered with abundant white waxy bloom, while flesh is fleshy-juicy with a pleasant taste. The period from bud break to full ripeness is about 130 days with a sum of active temperatures of 2730°C. The variety is characterized by relatively vigorous growth and good shoot ripening.

Kosorotovskiy is relatively resistant to downy mildew and adapted to rather severe climatic conditions, making it universal for cultivation in various regions. Yield of the variety varies from 50 to 100 centners per hectare. Grapes are used both for fresh consumption and for producing high-quality table wines with a well-expressed aroma, sparkling wine materials and juices. Due to its stable characteristics and taste qualities, the variety is recommended for home gardens and vineyards.
