Grape Albina

Northern Breeding for High Yields

The 'Albina' grape is a product of Ukrainian selection, engineered specifically for regions with challenging climates. This variety was developed to meet the needs of viticulturists in northern and central regions who required a crop that combines excellent dessert fruit qualities with extreme winter hardiness.

Key Specifications and Agronomics

• Cold Resistance: Withstands temperatures as low as -27°C, allowing for cultivation with minimal or no winter covering in many zones.
• Yield Potential: The vigorous growth of the bush ensures a consistent and high harvest.
• Berries and Clusters: Large berries (5–8 g) form impressive clusters weighing 500–800 g. The white skin and fruity flavor profile make it a market-ready choice.
• Sugar Content: High levels (>20%) make it suitable for both fresh consumption and home winemaking.

A notable feature of this variety is its female flower type. Proper planning is essential: to ensure full pollination, 'Albina' requires cross-pollination from other varieties blooming during the same period. By accounting for this, growers can achieve consistent, early-ripening harvests—a critical advantage in shorter growing seasons.

The reputation of 'Albina' is built on the balance between low-maintenance care and fruit quality. It is the preferred choice for those seeking a reliable, high-performing vine that doesn't suffer from annual frost damage but still delivers premium-class table grapes.
