The SPICA garlic variety is a high-quality planting material characterized by large cloves and big bulbs, which ensure high yield. For successful cultivation, it is recommended to use single-cloves — individual garlic cloves measuring from 20 mm in size, which exhibit good self-orientation in the soil and can be planted both manually and using mechanical seeders. Single-cloves contribute to the rejuvenation of the variety, prevent the development of diseases, and increase resistance to pests, which is particularly important for maintaining variety characteristics over several reproductive cycles. To protect garlic from weeds and diseases, the herbicide Positive Plus with the active substance prometryn is used, which is effective for both soil and post-emergence treatments. This product helps combat a wide range of weeds, which improves growing conditions for garlic and increases its yield. The use of herbicides in combination with quality planting material ensures reliable crop protection and contributes to obtaining a healthy and large harvest. Additionally, natural methods can be applied to combat fungal diseases and stimulate garlic growth, such as the use of sulfur-containing materials, for example, ordinary matches. This accessible technology includes soil preparation, clove treatment with potassium permanganate, and planting matches into holes, which strengthens plants and increases their disease resistance. A comprehensive approach to growing SPICA garlic using modern protection means and natural stimulants allows achieving high yield and product quality indicators.
