Garlic Glory

Gloria Garlic by UNUS: A Pro's Perspective

Working with the 'Gloria' variety from UNUS has been a lesson in consistency. For an agribusiness focused on market-ready crops, this variety stands out due to its predictability.

Field Performance and Storage

During the harvest, 'Gloria' demonstrates excellent resilience against mechanical stress. The skin is sufficiently dense to withstand the rigors of mechanical digging, which saves time and minimizes the reject rate that often plagues more delicate varieties. This is a critical factor for maintaining margins, especially when aiming for the premium fresh market.

Regarding storage: this variety meets expectations perfectly. Keep the crop in ventilated storage facilities, and losses by springtime are minimal. The cloves remain firm, maintain their mass, and show no signs of premature sprouting—a crucial trait for fresh market sales heading into the new year.

Flavor and Market Application

Gloria is known for its intense, sharp flavor. This flavor profile makes it versatile: it is highly sought after by household consumers on the fresh market and by processors looking for raw materials for sauces and marinades. Its high solids content ensures that the flavor stays strong even after industrial processing.

• Large cloves that significantly speed up sorting and packaging.
• Excellent shelf life with minimal loss of market quality.
• Sharp, intense flavor that consumers prefer.
• Reliable Ukrainian-bred genetics adapted to local soil and climate conditions.
