PERUN – tetraploid festulolium type of ryegrass variety with improved hardiness and longevity. The variety is characterized by high yields of dry green mass and significant sugar content, making it a valuable feed for farm animals.
PERUN quickly roots and shows early spring regrowth, ensuring high productivity even in the first cut. It is resistant to rust, leaf spot, and fusarium, as well as demonstrating good frost hardiness and ability to compete with weeds.
The variety is widely used as a pure culture for silage production, as well as in mixtures with other grasses – pasture ryegrass, oat varieties of festulolium, and red clover. In such mixtures, PERUN ensures a high yield of quality dry matter, especially in the first and second years of cultivation, making it a preferred choice for cattle feeding.
PERUN is recommended as an early variety for cutting fresh green feed and hay. Due to high digestibility and rich sugar content, animals happily graze on this grass, and the producer receives high pasture value.
