Adaptability and Field Performance

The Festulolium "PANIA DS" is a product of the Lithuanian breeding company UAB Dotnuva Baltic, officially registered in Ukraine in 2020. As a tetraploid hybrid resulting from a cross between fescue and ryegrass, it combines the best traits of its parents: the hardiness of fescue and the high nutritional value of ryegrass. In field conditions, the variety demonstrates excellent plasticity, making it an optimal choice for the Forest-Steppe and Polissya regions.

Stress Tolerance

A key advantage of "PANIA DS" is its ability to maintain productivity under unstable climatic conditions. High frost resistance allows the crop to successfully overwinter even during sharp temperature fluctuations typical of northern and central Ukraine. During the summer, the hybrid shows moderate drought tolerance and recovers rapidly after mowing or grazing. Due to its vigorous growth, the sward densely covers the soil, which suppresses weed development and retains moisture in the root zone.

Agronomic Features

• Usage type: Hay and pasture. The hybrid tolerates intensive use well, regrowing quickly after each cycle.
• Morphology: The plant has medium height and leaf width, ensuring optimal sward density. Early heading allows for the first cut to be harvested in a timely manner.
• Feed Quality: The tetraploid nature of the variety leads to increased accumulation of sugars and protein, which is critical for dairy farming.

"PANIA DS" is not prone to lodging, which facilitates mechanized harvesting and reduces yield losses. Disease resistance, characteristic of modern Lithuanian breeding lines, helps minimize fungicide costs while ensuring a stable yield of high-quality green mass throughout the entire season.
