Festulolium VETRA

Efficient Forage Production with 'Vetra' Festulolium

Selecting a forage crop for intensive use requires a balance between the speed of biomass recovery and its nutritional value. The tetraploid hybrid 'Vetra', registered in 2021, is designed for farmers focused on maximizing feed units per hectare in the Forest-Steppe and Polissya regions.

Crop Purpose and Utilization

The primary value of 'Vetra' lies in its versatility. The hybrid is perfectly suited for both intensive grazing and the production of high-quality haylage and hay. Due to its rapid regrowth after each cutting, the crop allows for multiple harvest cycles per season, ensuring a steady supply of fresh forage.

• Fresh Consumption: High regeneration speed allows pastures to remain productive for extended periods. Livestock readily consume the green mass due to the optimal balance of fiber and sugars.
• Storage and Processing: 'Vetra' demonstrates excellent results when processed into haylage. High nutritional value is maintained with proper preservation, which is critical for the winter diet of high-yielding livestock.
• Marketable Appearance and Structure: The plant features a wide flag leaf and long inflorescence, forming a dense, thick sward. This structure ensures high mass density during mowing, facilitating the operation of harvesting machinery and minimizing losses during collection.

High winter hardiness and resistance to extreme climatic conditions make this hybrid a reliable tool for establishing long-term cultivated pastures. 'Vetra' does not just provide volume—it ensures stable feed quality, which directly impacts livestock productivity.
