Eggplant BLUE BABY

Consistent Yields in Various Environments

When selecting a variety for eggplant cultivation, farmers often prioritize reliability and crop consistency. "Golubchik" from Gavrish is designed for those who value predictable performance. Over years of use, this variety has proven its adaptability across different climate zones, performing steadily in both greenhouses and open fields.

Agronomic Insights

The seedling stage lasts between 50-60 days. This is the optimal window to develop a robust root system, ensuring the plant establishes itself quickly after being transplanted. The key characteristics of this variety are:

• Fruit shape: classic cylindrical.
• Color: deep dark-violet.
• Length: ranges from 12 to 25 cm.

Operational Notes and Care

The primary advantage of working with this variety is the uniform crop distribution. With proper irrigation and feeding, the eggplants maintain a firm but tender texture, avoiding the bitterness often found in less stable varieties. The cylindrical shape is highly practical for logistics: the fruits pack neatly into crates without deformation, minimizing post-harvest losses.

Originators Dmitry Gladkov and Anna Semyonova have engineered a variety with high adaptability. If the summer season proves unpredictable, "Golubchik" tends to retain its fruit set better than more sensitive hybrids. For best results, keep an eye on harvesting times: fruits measuring between 18-22 cm offer the best flavor profile, while leaving them on the plant for too long can lead to tougher skin and reduced market value.
