Eggplant Marquis

Working with "Markiz" eggplant

When selecting a variety, commercial growers and gardeners alike look for stability and yield quality. The "Markiz" eggplant by Sedek is a classic, proven variety that performs well in both open fields and greenhouses. Field experience shows that this variety is predictable in its growth cycle, which is essential for efficient seasonal planning.

Growing conditions and vegetation

From an agronomic perspective, "Markiz" offers a mid-season maturity period: from germination to harvest takes 90–100 days. This makes it a reliable choice for temperate climates. A significant advantage is its adaptive capacity; the variety handles temperature fluctuations well, whether under plastic tunnel cover or in open soil conditions.

Product quality: focus for the grower

At harvest time, "Markiz" is consistent. The fruits have a classic cylindrical shape, which is convenient for transport and retail packaging. The color is a deep, rich dark purple, and the skin is glossy and bitter-free. The average fruit weight ranges from 100 to 200 grams, making it an ideal size for both market shelves and culinary use.

• Stability: The breeder (Sedek) has ensured good fruit uniformity.
• Versatility: Suitable for both small-scale farming and amateur vegetable gardens.
• Maintenance: The plant is responsive to standard fertilization and regular watering, without requiring overly complex training or pruning.

If your goal is to achieve reliable results with minimal risk of quality loss due to weather volatility, this variety will prove to be a workhorse in your garden. It avoids the fuss of more sensitive hybrids, ensuring a solid output of high-quality produce provided that basic horticultural practices are followed.
