Tolstyachok

Tolstychok – an early variety of daikon ready for harvest quickly: from germination to harvest takes only 45‑50 days. The root has a cylindrical shape with a smooth surface, about 17–20 cm long and weighing around 530–550 g. Appearance – snow white, without coarse fibers, while the inner flesh is juicy, crisp and sweet, almost without spiciness.

The variety is characterized by high productivity and dietetic properties: dense, tender white flesh retains elasticity for a long time, making it ideal for both fresh consumption and short-term storage. Tolstychok tolerates weak lighting well and does not require intensive fertilization; excessive amounts of nitrogen or organic fertilizers can negatively affect growth.

For cultivation, seeds are sown in open ground at the end of April–May or in the latter half of July, following a planting scheme of 8–10 cm between rows and 20 cm between plants. The variety is suitable for both open and closed ground, and easily withstands winter storage, making it a convenient choice for farmers and gardeners striving for a stable harvest of sweet radish.
