GERASIM

Cucumber variety Gerassim is a fast-maturing parthenocarpic hybrid developed for cultivation in plastic greenhouses, under temporary coverings, and in open ground. The vegetation period is 39-42 days from seedling emergence to fruiting. The plant features a strong root system and limited lateral branch growth, which simplifies care and increases disease resistance. Gerassim is characterized by cluster fruit set—up to 8 fruits per node—which contributes to high yield.

The fruits are cylindrical, 10-12 cm long, dark green with a finely ribbed surface and white hairs. The weight of a single fruit is 90-110 grams. This variety is versatile, ideal for salads, pickling, canning, as well as for harvesting pickles and cornichons. For pickles, harvesting is done daily; for cornichons—every other day. The yield of this variety reaches 12-13 kg per square meter.

Seedling sowing is recommended in late April, and transplanting into the ground—late May or early June, when seedlings have formed 3-4 true leaves. Direct sowing in the ground is recommended in May-June, with a recommended planting scheme of 30x70 cm. Variety Gerassim is resistant to root rot, true powdery mildew, and olive spot, and also relatively resistant to false powdery mildew, making it a reliable choice for various climatic conditions and cultivation methods.
