Crested Wheatgrass ONGUDAYSKY

Stability for Challenging Farming Conditions

The 'Ongudaysky' crested wheatgrass is a specialized variety designed for farms operating in high-risk agricultural zones. Its primary value lies in balancing nutritional yield with extreme resilience against pests that typically devastate forage crops in steppe regions.

Tackling the Swedish Fly

For many agronomists, the main obstacle to establishing healthy perennial grasses is the damage caused by the Swedish fly. 'Ongudaysky' possesses genetic resistance to this pest, which is a critical economic advantage. In practical terms, this minimizes the need for repeated insecticide applications and ensures the crop stand remains dense and productive, even during years of high pest pressure.

Practical Scenarios for Field Implementation

• Forage Production: As a purely forage-oriented variety, 'Ongudaysky' is ideal for establishing long-term meadows for hay and haylage production.
• Land Reclamation: Its robust root system makes it an excellent choice for reseeding degraded pastures, effectively stabilizing soil and outcompeting invasive weed species.
• Resource Efficiency: The variety thrives in soils with low natural productivity, making it an excellent investment for livestock farms seeking stable annual yields without heavy dependency on irrigation or fertilizers.

Developed through a collaborative effort between French breeders and the Siberian Federal Scientific Centre for Agrobiotechnologies (RAS), the variety effectively combines European agricultural standards with the resilience required for harsh, continental climates.
