Crested Wheatgrass KAMYSHEVSKIY 1

Practical Application of 'Kamyshinsky 1' Wheatgrass

For agricultural operations located in arid and semi-arid regions, selecting a perennial grass that combines high durability with low maintenance is essential. 'Kamyshinsky 1', developed by the Federal Scientific Center of Agroecology, RAS, serves as a standard for establishing long-term forage lands and rehabilitating degraded soil structures.

On-Farm Utility

• Forage Production: This cultivar is specifically utilized for establishing reliable hayfields. Its ability to maintain stable biomass yields on chestnut and saline soils makes it a preferred choice for farmers working in challenging environmental conditions.
• Soil Conservation: Featuring a robust root system, 'Kamyshinsky 1' is highly effective for seeding on slopes and fragile land, successfully mitigating both wind and water erosion while improving soil structure.
• Pasture Management: The cultivar is noted for its high regrowth capacity following grazing or mowing, making it a sustainable tool for rotational grazing systems in steppe and semi-desert zones.

Agronomic Performance

Unlike less resilient grasses, 'Kamyshinsky 1' exhibits exceptional tolerance to extreme temperature fluctuations. It remains unaffected by late spring frosts and summer heat waves. When planning field operations, it is recommended to consider this variety for pure stands or simple legume-grass mixtures, which help optimize the nutritional value of the forage. For livestock farms focused on resource-efficient production, this variety provides a reliable forage foundation capable of sustaining production for over 5–8 years, significantly reducing the need for frequent reseeding.
