Wild oat crested "Zernograjsky 1" is a high-yielding fodder plant belonging to the group of broad-earned grasses. The bush is dense and almost erect, with a height ranging from 54 to 80 cm, featuring a loose, wide ear and long linear leaves. The seeds are large, with a mass of 1000 seeds amounting to approximately 2.21 g.
Yield indicators demonstrate high productivity: in competitive trials, green mass reached 140–150 c/ha, while the number of seeds was 4 c/ha. The plant is characterized by winter and drought resistance, as well as resistance to diseases and pests.
Fodder qualities of wild oat are high: hay contains approximately 25.55% dry matter and 15.94% crude protein. Upon maturation, part of the florets may shed, which does not reduce its value as a fodder product.
