Zafiro

The hybrid maize Zafiro (SI Zeffer) is a medium-late maturing variety recommended for cultivation in the Forest Steppe and Steppe regions of Ukraine. This hybrid is designed to produce grain with high yield potential, reaching up to 10 tons per hectare under optimal conditions. The dent-type grain contains 72-74% starch and about 9.2% protein, making it valuable for various agro-industrial purposes. The maturity group is medium-late, with a FAO of 380, ensuring good adaptation to regional climatic conditions. Zafiro stands out for its high resistance to lodging due to a strong Stay Green root system and erect leaf placement, which enhances photosynthetic efficiency. The hybrid exhibits rapid grain moisture loss at maturity, facilitating harvest and reducing losses. It possesses high initial growth energy and can successfully develop under intensive cultivation technologies, including conventional and irrigated systems. Additionally, the hybrid is adapted for repeated cultivation on the same field, enhancing its economic appeal to farmers. Among the key advantages of Zafiro are high resistance to stress factors and diseases. The hybrid shows maximum resistance to drought and lodging, as well as good tolerance to frost. It is resistant to diseases such as helminthosporiosis, powdery mildew, root and stem rots. Thanks to these qualities, Zafiro is a reliable choice for cultivation under variable climatic conditions and intensive agriculture, especially on irrigated lands.
