KWS RICARDO — a medium-maturing hybrid of sweet corn selected by KWS, intended for grain production. This hybrid is characterized by high yield stability even under extensive conditions and exhibits high drought tolerance, making it a reliable choice for regions with variable moisture levels. Due to its very rapid moisture loss, KWS RICARDO is suitable for late harvest, allowing optimal harvest timing and reduced losses.
The agronomic characteristics of the hybrid include stability, high resistance to lodging, and rapid early growth. Plants have a semi-erect leaf architecture, promoting good air circulation and reducing disease risk. Plant height ranges from 270-290 cm, and ear attachment height is 90-100 cm. The kernels are dent-shaped, with 16-18 rows and 35-40 kernels per row; the 1000-kernel weight varies from 270 to 300 g.
The recommended plant density at harvest depends on soil moisture levels: 70-75 thousand plants per hectare under adequate moisture, 50-60 thousand/ha under medium moisture, and 45-50 thousand/ha under low moisture. The potential grain yield reaches 15 tons per hectare. The hybrid is produced in Ukraine based on German selection and is suitable for cultivation under various climatic conditions, ensuring stable and high yields.
