Maize Tesla

Tesla corn — a mid-season three-line hybrid with FAO 350, developed by VNILS and intended for grain, silage, and biogas production. This hybrid features a silicified-toothed orange kernel and plant height of approximately 260–282 cm, with ears positioned at 100–120 cm. Tesla demonstrates a stable yield potential up to 17 t/ha (170 c/ha) and high average yields, confirmed by multi-year trials since 2015. The number of rows of kernels per ear varies from 14 to 18, with kernels per row reaching 39–45, ensuring abundant grain and high productivity.

The Tesla hybrid exhibits high resistance to lodging, root rots, helminthosporiosis, fusarium, and bacterial blight, significantly reducing the risk of yield loss and the need for additional treatments. The hybrid's drought tolerance is rated 8–9 out of 10, making it especially suitable for cultivation in arid regions, including southern Ukraine. Additionally, Tesla is adapted to minimal and zero tillage, allowing reduced agronomic costs and soil fertility conservation.

The hybrid is recommended for planting density of 55–80 thousand plants per hectare, depending on the region: 65–80 thousand in forest-steppe and 60–70 thousand in steppe zones. Tesla combines high yield, rapid water release, and stress tolerance, making it a versatile choice for farmers seeking a stable and high-quality grain, silage, or biogas crop.
