ROSS 185 MV — an early-maturing corn hybrid intended for grain and silage production. The plant is of medium height, reaching 240–250 cm, with narrow leaves of medium width and medium ear attachment height (90–95 cm). The ear is long, medium thickness, slightly conical, with a short stalk and medium number of rows of kernels. The kernels are dent-shaped, with a yellow upper part and red-orange lower part, giving it a distinctive appearance. The 1000-kernel weight is approximately 180 g. The hybrid is resistant to lodging and stem breakage below the ear, ensuring crop preservation under adverse weather conditions. ROSS 185 MV demonstrates high yield performance across various regions, including the Central Black Earth, Middle Volga, West Siberian, and East Siberian zones. The average normalized dry matter yield ranges from 63.5 to 127.7 c/ha, exceeding the standard by 2.3–12.4%. Dry matter content in silage is also sufficiently high and varies by growing region. The hybrid exhibits resistance to southern helminthosporiosis, moderate resistance to downy mildew and common rust, as well as resistance to stalk rot. However, it shows low susceptibility to ear fusarium, but may suffer from stalk borer damage. For successful cultivation of ROSS 185 MV, adequate sunlight and warmth are required to ensure optimal yield formation. The hybrid is suitable for various agroclimatic zones and is recommended for open-field sowing.
