CASCADE 166 ASV

CASCADE 166 ASV — an early-maturing corn hybrid with FAO 170, developed at the Voronezh Experimental Station of VNIIC. This hybrid is characterized by high yield and low grain moisture at harvest, simplifying harvesting and storage. Plants are moderately tall, reaching 210-240 cm, with well-leafed stems and slightly conical ears 18-21 cm long. The grain is dent-shaped, yellow, with a 1000-grain weight of 230-250 g and 16-20 rows. The ear husk loosens and easily separates upon maturity, contributing to a high milling yield of 87-88%.

The hybrid exhibits high drought resistance and moderate cold tolerance, making it suitable for cultivation in the Central and Lower Volga regions. It is resistant to southern helminthosporiosis, weakly affected by powdery mildew and bacterial disease, but susceptible to ear fungal disease and corn stalk borer, which can cause significant damage. Plants are non-tasseling, with high resistance to root and stalk lodging, enhancing yield stability.

CASCADE 166 ASV is suitable for grain, grain-stalk, and silage production. The optimal plant population under adequate moisture conditions is 75-80 thousand plants per hectare. Average grain yield in the Lower Volga region reaches 30.6 c/ha, while normalized dry matter yield in the Central region amounts to 75.4 c/ha, exceeding standards. Maximum grain yields in individual farms have reached over 100 c/ha with grain moisture around 24-25%. Due to its agronomic characteristics and adaptability, the hybrid CASCADE 166 ASV is a reliable choice for farmers aiming for high-quality corn yields.
