RedWine

RedWine is a medium-early universal hybrid of maize for grain and silage purposes with FAO 290, developed by the company «Maïs» and registered in Ukraine in 2016. The hybrid is characterized by high adaptability to various agroclimatic conditions, allowing successful cultivation in the regions of Polissia, Forest-Steppe, and Steppe. The vegetation period ranges from 96 to 109 days, and the potential yield reaches up to 10 tons per hectare. The grain is dent-shaped, yellow in color, with 1000-grain weight varying from 230 to 280 grams. Plants reach a height of up to 220 cm, with ear attachment at approximately 110 cm, and the ear has a cylindrical shape with 14–16 rows of kernels. The RedWine hybrid possesses high initial growth rate, ensuring uniform emergence and active development in the early stage, enabling effective competition with weeds. It is versatile in use — suitable both for grain production and for silage preparation. Due to its excellent moisture release, grain harvest proceeds with minimal losses and reduces drying costs. RedWine is well-adapted to both conventional and intensive cultivation technologies; the optimal plant density at harvest ranges from 50,000 to 70,000 per hectare depending on the zone. Recommended preceding crops include cereal crops, potato, sugar beet, and buckwheat. To achieve maximum yield, the hybrid requires conventional soil preparation with application of main fertilizers, adherence to sowing dates, and effective weed control. Its stable yield and high resistance to various climatic conditions make RedWine a reliable choice for Ukrainian farmers. Its semi-erect leaf orientation and weak anthocyanic stem coloring also contribute to good plant development. Thus, RedWine represents a high-yielding and adaptable maize hybrid, optimal for cultivation in various regions of Ukraine for obtaining quality grain and silage.
