Maize P9889WX

Efficient grain production with Corteva

The P9889VX corn hybrid from Corteva represents American breeding excellence, tailored for farmers who prioritize stable grain yields. This simple, dent-type hybrid is engineered to perform consistently across various environmental conditions, making it a reliable choice for commercial grain operations seeking to optimize their yield per hectare.

Disease resistance and field performance

A major advantage of P9889VX is its genetic resistance to boil smut, which significantly reduces crop loss risks. The hybrid also demonstrates strong tolerance to helminthosporium leaf blight and stalk smut, ensuring healthy plant architecture throughout the growing season and reducing the need for aggressive fungicide applications. These traits ensure that the crop maintains its potential until the harvest stage.

Cultivation guidelines

The dent kernel structure of the hybrid is optimized for superior dry-down rates, reducing moisture levels quickly and lowering drying costs at the elevator. To maximize yield outcomes, the manufacturer recommends the following planting densities:

• Under favorable moisture conditions: 60,000–65,000 plants/ha.
• In water-limited or extensive farming systems: 55,000–60,000 plants/ha.

With its balanced FAO rating and predictable growth patterns, P9889VX provides growers with the operational flexibility needed for efficient field management and harvest planning.
