Ovidius 295 MV corn is a mid-early hybrid with FAO 280-290, intended for cultivation in steppe, forest-steppe, and forest regions of Ukraine. The vegetation period ranges from 110-131 days depending on the region, ensuring timely maturation and high productivity. Plants reach a height of 220-250 cm, have 16-17 leaves, and bear cylindrical ears 22-26 cm long, positioned 80-95 cm above the base. The grain is dent-shaped, yellow, with a 1000-grain weight of 280-290 g and protein content of about 9%, indicating high-quality yield.
The hybrid exhibits high resistance to stalk lodging, cold tolerance (rating 4.7 points), and good drought resistance, allowing successful cultivation under various climatic conditions. It is tolerant to major diseases, including stalk rot, gray leaf spot, and southern rust, and resistant to corn borer damage at standard levels. High yield performance is confirmed by trial results: average yield in forest-steppe zones is approximately 8.17 t/ha, with maximum yields reaching 11-11.2 t/ha.
The seeds of Ovidius 295 MV are treated with modern two-component fungicidal protectants such as "Inshur Perform" and "Redigo", providing effective disease protection during early development stages. The hybrid was developed by breeders of the Institute of Plant Physiology named after V.Ya. Yuryev through crossing maternal line Kharkov 23 MC and paternal hybrid Kharkov 40 MV, ensuring stability and high-quality planting material. Recommended for cultivation in various agroclimatic zones of Ukraine to achieve high and quality yields.
