Maize OVERSTONE

Stable Yield Under High Pathogen Pressure

The “Overstone” corn hybrid from the French breeder Lidea is a strategic choice for farms facing annual risks from fungal and viral crop diseases. As a single-cross hybrid, it ensures high plant uniformity across the field, which is essential for precise harvesting equipment adjustment and achieving consistent grain quality.

The Phytosanitary Shield for Your Fields

The main strength of “Overstone” is its performance in regions with high disease pressure. Its genetic potential is specifically engineered to suppress a wide range of pathogens:

• Fungal Infections: An effective barrier against Mycosphaerella leaf spot, brown spot, and various rusts. This allows for reduced fungicide applications during critical growth stages.
• Viral Resistance: The hybrid shows marked resistance to maize mosaic viruses, making it a preferred choice for crop rotations where viral infection risk is elevated.
• Bacterial Defense: High tolerance to bacterial leaf spot helps minimize yield losses even during adverse weather conditions that trigger microorganism proliferation.

Practical Application in the Field

This hybrid performs exceptionally well under standard commercial cultivation practices. While it responds positively to intensive agronomic management, its robust immune system ensures stability even with moderate crop protection inputs. Producers choose “Overstone” for fields where perfect isolation from viral infection sources is unattainable, as well as for regions prone to fluctuating humidity levels that promote leaf spot development.

Utilizing this hybrid allows agronomists to plan the season with fewer risks of unexpected grain quality degradation. Investing in “Overstone” is justified in scenarios where result predictability and maximizing the return on investment per hectare are the top priorities.
