Developed by the V. Ya. Yuriev Plant Production Institute of NAAS, this hybrid serves as a prime example of selection focused on stable yields under Ukraine's variable climatic conditions. As a simple hybrid with dent-type grain, Leleka MV is engineered to optimize the output of high-quality commercial grain and silage.

Agrobiological Indicators and Potential

A key feature of this hybrid is the combination of a 110–120 day vegetation period with a FAO rating of 300 (in the 90–1240 system). This growth cycle allows the plant to efficiently utilize cumulative active temperatures for grain maturation. The grain features a high starch content of 75%, making it a valuable raw material for both the animal feed industry and silage production.

Resilience and Phytosanitary Control

The immune system engineering of Leleka MV includes comprehensive resistance to key pathogens that typically limit corn yields:

• Common Smut: Genetic protection minimizes damage to cobs and stems, maintaining structural integrity until harvest.
• Stalk Rots: The hybrid demonstrates high resistance to a complex of fungal diseases, ensuring lodging resistance and flexibility for late-season harvesting.
• European Corn Borer: Biological traits of the hybrid reduce its susceptibility to this pest, minimizing the risk of stem damage.

These characteristics allow agronomists to reduce pesticide reliance while achieving consistent quality and environmentally safe output.
