Description NS 402
NS 402 — a mid-late maturing corn hybrid intended for cultivation in the North Caucasus region. The plant reaches a height of about 260 cm, has an elastic stem resistant to lodging and breakage. The ear is cylindrical in shape with 16-18 rows of dark-yellow kernels, of dent type standard quality. The 1000-kernel weight is approximately 410 g, indicating high seed density and quality.

The hybrid exhibits good resistance to major corn diseases, including southern helminthosporiosis, and is tolerant to pathogens Ustilago maydis, Helminthosporium spp. and Fusarium spp. However, it may be moderately affected by ear bacterial and fusarium diseases, as well as moderately damaged by corn borer. Due to its robust root system and strong stem, NS 402 effectively utilizes water and demonstrates high resistance to lodging.

NS 402 is suitable for cultivation both for grain and silage, particularly in warm regions with irrigation potential. The average grain yield in the region is approximately 47.7 t/ha, exceeding the standard by 5.1 t/ha, while the potential dry grain yield may exceed 14 t/ha. Silage mass yield reaches over 60 t/ha; for silage use, it is recommended to increase planting density by 15%. The hybrid tolerates drought well and is suitable for intensive agronomic conditions.
