Description LUCID
The 'LUCID' corn variety belongs to the dent group and is characterized by tall plants, 250 to 350 cm in height, with wide leaves and good leafiness. The ears are conical, 25–30 cm long, with high attachment at the 100–120 cm level, and most plants form two ears. The grain is intermediate type, closer to dent, with a yellow upper part. The 1000-grain weight is 280–300 g. The plant has a medium-late maturity with a vegetative period of 100–110 days and belongs to FAO group 400. A notable feature of this variety is its high yield: the average yield of normalized dry matter reaches 98.5 c/ha, and the maximum yield is 173.6 c/ha, indicating its high productivity. The tassel flowering occurs at medium maturity, and the anthocyanic coloration of the ear husk and silk is very weak or absent. The main tassel axis is long and forms a large angle with the side branches, which are curved and numerous. The stalk is colored, the ear is of medium thickness and length, with a short peduncle and average number of rows of kernels. The 'LUCID' variety is universal in use — suitable both for grain production and for silage preparation. At full grain maturity, the leaf-stalk biomass remains green, allowing efficient use for silage. The variety is resistant to southern gummy smut and is slightly affected by common head smut, but it is susceptible to bacterial disease and severely damaged by the corn borer. It also shows strong infection by ear Fusarium, requiring attention during cultivation.
