Description DN Orlik
DN Orlik is a simple modified hybrid of sweet corn of Ukrainian selection, intended for grain and silage cultivation. The hybrid is characterized by high plasticity and is recommended for cultivation throughout Ukraine, making it a universal solution for various climatic conditions. Mid-season maturing (FAO 280), it demonstrates stable productivity and adaptability to different soil-climatic zones, including forest-steppe, meadow, and steppe.

Plants reach a height of 230-240 cm, with an ear attachment height of about 90 cm, without forming bushiness. Ears have a cylindrical shape, 22-24 cm long, with 16-18 rows of kernels and a red core. The kernels are characterized by yellow-orange color and a 1000-kernel weight of 290-310 g. The plant population varies depending on the cultivation zone: in forest-steppe and meadow regions — 75-80 thousand plants per hectare, in steppe — 45-55 thousand plants per hectare.

The hybrid is characterized by high resistance to lodging, cold, drought, as well as to diseases and pests, ensuring its high productivity even on fields with poor phytosanitary conditions. In dry years in the Odessa and Mykolaiv regions, yields reach 85-88 centners per hectare, indicating its ability to maintain optimal growth rates under water deficiency in the upper soil layers. Potential grain yield is about 8.3-8.6 tons per hectare, confirmed by test trials.
