DL 26 is a fast-maturing, high-yielding hybrid of sweet corn, intended for cultivation for grain and feed, as well as for fresh produce. The period from emergence to technical maturity is 75-78 days. Plants are strong, medium-height, reaching 180-190 cm in height, with well-developed root systems and high resistance to lodging, ensuring adaptability to various growing conditions. The hybrid features vigorous early growth and early flowering, promoting rapid development and high yield.
The ears of DL 26 are large, cylindrical, 24-27 cm long and about 5 cm in diameter, with 16-18 evenly arranged rows of bright yellow kernels. Each plant forms 2-3 full ears weighing 220-240 g each. Kernels are uniform, not overly large, with high sugar content (over 10-12%), imparting exceptional taste qualities to the produce. Grain yield reaches 12-16 t/ha, while ear yield is 1.5-2.0 kg/m². The hybrid is resistant to diseases such as rust, common rust, and bacterial rot.
The primary use of the hybrid is for producing early-harvested fresh produce for the fresh vegetable market, as well as for freezing, canning, and processing. To create a continuous production line, it is recommended to sow seeds in multiple stages. Sowing should be conducted when soil temperature is not less than 10 °C, optimal depth is 4-5 cm, with a seeding rate of 50,000 plants per hectare and a planting scheme of 75 x 25 cm. For fresh consumption, ears and grain are used in the milk stage of maturity, while storage requires good ventilation and low temperatures.
