Description VITAE
Corn Vizantia is a medium-maturing sweet hybrid characterized by high yield and superior grain quality. The plant reaches a height of 170 to 240 cm, forming large ears approximately 19-24 cm long with 14-16 evenly arranged rows of bright yellow kernels. The kernels are of the super-sweet Sh2 type, containing more than 20% sugars, imparting a honey-like, delicate flavor. Due to its high rate of grain drying after physiological maturity and resistance to lodging, Vizantia is suitable for both fresh consumption and canning. The hybrid demonstrates high resilience to stress factors, including drought, heat, cold, and diseases such as helminthosporiosis, fusarium, and downy mildew. Thanks to its well-developed root system, Corn Vizantia can successfully grow on various soil types with optimal pH levels from 5 to 7.5, preferring alkaline soils for maximum yield. The plant exhibits a high initial growth rate and the ability to form up to two ears per stalk under favorable conditions. To achieve maximum yield, optimal agronomic practices are recommended: sowing in the third decade of May at soil temperatures of 10-15°C to a depth of 2.5-3 cm, with row spacing around 70 cm and plant spacing of 25-30 cm. Fertilization is applied in two stages — prior to sowing and after the emergence of 7-8 leaves, with mandatory application of microelements during the 3-4 leaf stage. Special attention is given to ensuring adequate magnesium and copper levels, as their deficiency negatively affects flowering, pollination, and grain quality. Vizantia has a potential yield of up to 16-17 tons per hectare, making it a profitable and reliable choice for cultivation under various climatic conditions.
