CARNIVAL 464 — a mid-late maturing corn (Zea mays L.) hybrid with popping kernels, intended for popcorn production. Plants of this hybrid have medium height, and the ear has a main axis positioned higher than the upper side branch of medium length, forming a large angle with the side branches. Primary side ear branches are curved, varying from medium to long length, with a medium or above-medium number. Anthocyanin coloration of the silk is weak, and the ear is conical in shape, medium or long in length, with a short pedicel and unpigmented stalk. Popcorn kernels have a red-orange hue at the top. The hybrid is distinguished by high yield, reaching 40.9 centners per hectare in the North Caucasus region. CARNIVAL 464 is resistant to infection by common smut and corn stem borer, contributing to preservation of yield quality and quantity. Due to its characteristics, the kernels pop well upon heating, ensuring high-quality, crisp popcorn, making this hybrid popular for air-popped corn production.
