Maize "Perlină Stepu" is a high-yielding mid-early variety characterized by its sweet taste, juiciness, and tender grain structure. The plant reaches a height of 180–200 cm, forming a sturdy stem with a robust root system. The cylindrical ears, 18–22 cm long, are densely filled with evenly distributed yellow kernels rich in sugars. The variety exhibits good resistance to drought, temperature fluctuations, and major maize diseases, including fusarium and smut.
This maize variety is suitable for cultivation both in open fields and in plastic greenhouses, making it versatile for personal consumption and commercial production. Sowing is recommended in April–May when soil temperature reaches +10…+12°C, with an optimal seed planting depth of 3–5 cm and a spacing of 60×30 cm. To improve germination, seeds can be pre-soaked in growth stimulators. The plant prefers sunny areas with fertile, well-drained soil, requires moderate but regular watering, especially during ear formation, and 2–3 fertilizations per season with nitrogen and phosphorus-potassium fertilizers.
Harvesting is conducted at the milk stage, when the kernels become juicy and sweet. Maize "Perlină Stepu" can be used for boiling, frying, salad preparation, freezing, and canning. The variety is valued for its high content of B-group vitamins, fiber, and antioxidants. Under proper agronomic practices, average yield reaches 10–12 tons per hectare, and in home gardens, one plant can yield up to two full ears.
