Barley Ranee

Stable yields with German precision

Working with the Rani winter barley from Nordsaat Saatzucht, the first thing you notice is the crop's predictability. This six-row variety was developed by breeders at Nordsaat Saatzucht (Granskevitz station, Dr. Steffen Beuch). In the field, this translates to a strong ear and high adaptability to various climate zones, which is crucial during unstable winter conditions.

Field observations

Operating this variety proves that it rewards a classic approach to agronomy. The six-row ear type provides consistent stand density. Experience with Nordsaat genetics shows that the plant tillers well, allowing for slightly lower seeding rates when sowing dates are strictly followed. Lodging resistance is excellent, which significantly simplifies the harvest—the combine moves steadily without excessive stress on the header.

Management and performance

• Minimal harvest losses due to strong stem structure.
• Stable grain formation with proper fertilizer application.
• Flexibility in sowing windows, allowing for adaptable crop rotation.

Managing Rani crops doesn't require any complex or "exotic" routines: a standard protection and fertilization scheme used on the farm yields stable results. The variety is forgiving regarding minor delays in fungicide application. However, like any intensive barley, it requires soil moisture monitoring during the stem elongation stage. This is a choice for those who bank on German breeding quality and want to achieve consistent yields without surprises at the end of the season.
