Carrot PRIMORSKAYA 22

Optimized for Storage, Processing, and Early Markets

The «Primorskaya 22» variety is a proven choice for farms targeting long-term storage and industrial processing. Developed by specialists at the Vegetable Experimental Station, this carrot variety offers consistent productivity and predictable crop development, making it a reliable asset for commercial growers.

Field Application and Agronomy

• Maturity Window: With a 90–100 day growth cycle, this mid-season variety helps growers manage their harvesting schedule effectively, ensuring a steady supply during the peak sales period.
• Cultivation Techniques: Primorskaya 22 is well-suited for plastic mulch (film) cultivation, allowing producers to capitalize on early season pricing by protecting crops during the initial growth phases.
• Physical Attributes: The conical shape and 15–20 cm length, combined with an intense orange color, ensure high marketability in both fresh-cut packaging and retail settings.

Operational Advantages

The primary value of this variety lies in its storability. The roots maintain firmness and quality throughout the winter months, which is essential for operations utilizing their own storage facilities. From a technical standpoint, the root density reduces mechanical damage during machine harvesting, a crucial factor for large-scale production. Furthermore, its structural characteristics make it an excellent choice for processing facilities, as the variety is well-adapted to automated washing, peeling, and dicing production lines.
