Ornamental cabbage Pizhon is a hardy and disease-resistant variety widely used for creating original garden compositions and landscape design. The plant features rounded leaves with wavy edges and a velvety surface, while its dark cherry center retains a rich color even under direct sunlight. Flowering occurs from July to September, allowing for a long enjoyment of vibrant and expressive inflorescences. Pizhon is excellent for borders and flower beds, preferring sunny locations and light, well-drained soils. For growing ornamental cabbage Pizhon, it is recommended to sow seeds for seedlings in April-May, followed by pricking out and transplanting into open ground at 60-70 days old. Seedlings are kept at a temperature of about +15-20°C, with young plants tolerating short-term frosts well. Maximum decorative effect and brightness of rosette coloring is achieved with the onset of autumn frosts, making it especially attractive in cold weather. The plant responds positively to feeding, which promotes the development of large and color-rich inflorescences. In addition to decorative qualities, there is a variety of Japanese cabbage Pizhon, known as Mizuna salad, used in cooking. This cabbage is rich in vitamins C, B1, B2, PP, carotene, as well as minerals such as potassium, calcium, phosphorus, and iron. It is cold-hardy and can withstand frosts down to –4 °C. It matures in 30–35 days, allowing for harvest several times per season. Japanese cabbage Pizhon is consumed fresh and is also used for preparing soups, stews, and marinades, making it a versatile plant for both decorative and culinary purposes.
