Cabbage PIROZHKOVA

Why "Pirozhkovaya" is a Classic Choice

When planning your planting schedule for culinary purposes, choosing a cabbage variety is often a compromise between yield and taste. "Pirozhkovaya" by Sedek is a rare case where the name tells the whole story.

Growing Experience and Technical Data

The "Pirozhkovaya" leafy cabbage forms a neat, dense head weighing between 1.0 and 1.5 kg. For a small farm or home kitchen, this is the ideal format: one head equals one full meal. It has an atypical yellow-green color, which immediately distinguishes it from the usual dark green varieties.

• Purpose: Fresh market and home processing. It is designed to hit the table immediately after harvest.
• Storage: The variety keeps for 1–2 months. This is not a "winter" variety for long-term storage, but it is excellent for early autumn consumption.
• Care: The plant is quite flexible, responds well to standard agricultural practices, and does not require the specific high-maintenance conditions often associated with elite hybrids.

A Practical Perspective

Working with "Pirozhkovaya" is convenient because of its predictable size. It does not grow into massive leafy bushes that clog up the row spacing. The heads mature quite uniformly, allowing you to harvest them in one or two passes. The leaves have a delicate texture without excessive coarse fiber, which is why it is so popular for pie fillings, salads, and light vitamin-rich side dishes.

If you are looking for a variety that solves the fresh cabbage supply during the first half of the season without requiring "dances around the plants," "Pirozhkovaya" is a reliable choice. It is a real workhorse from the Sedek breeders, focused on a result that you can appreciate directly in the kitchen.
