Cabbage MARCELETTE

Professional aesthetics for landscape design

The ornamental cabbage variety 'Marseillaise', developed by VNIISSOK and Gavrish, is a staple choice for those looking to maintain visual appeal in gardens and public spaces throughout the autumn season. Unlike standard vegetable varieties, this cultivar is specifically bred for its aesthetic performance and hardiness during the cooling months of the year.

Practical applications in horticulture

• Border and pathway framing: Due to its compact growth habit and vibrant coloration, 'Marseillaise' is frequently used for low-maintenance borders that provide structure and color long after annual flowers have faded.
• Container gardening: This variety excels in pots, planters, and large containers. It offers a flexible solution for landscape designers to refresh patios, terraces, and commercial entryways by simply repositioning the plants as needed.
• Commercial nursery production: Growers target the fresh ornamental market by providing high-quality, sturdy transplants that show consistent development, making them a reliable choice for professional landscaping projects.

To maximize the decorative potential of 'Marseillaise', it should be cultivated in full sun on well-drained, nutrient-rich soil. Proper moisture management is the primary agrotechnical requirement; sufficient water supply is essential to ensure lush leaf texture and color development. The plant is noted for its ability to withstand cool nights and early frosts, which actually triggers a more intense coloration of the outer leaves. This makes it a high-value asset for extending the season of interest in temperate climates.
