Ornamental cabbage "Lace Mosaic" is a biennial plant that is typically grown as an annual. The plant reaches a height of up to 60 cm. Its curly leaves with strongly frilled edges feature a variety of colors: green, white, creamy, or purple-violet. The cabbage achieves the highest decorative value at the end of summer to early autumn, making it an attractive element for garden and flowerbed landscaping.
The plant is sun-loving and prefers humus-rich soils. It possesses good cold hardiness and can withstand frosts down to -8 to -12 °C. The cabbage reproduces via seeds, which are sown in late March to obtain seedlings. At a soil temperature of 18-20 °C, seedlings appear in 3-5 days. Seedlings are grown at a temperature of 12-16 °C, watered moderately, starting with misting young shoots and moving to regular watering after they have strengthened. Transplanting into open ground is carried out in late April to early May.
Cabbage "Lace Mosaic" is excellent for single and group plantings, and is also used as a border plant. It responds well to watering, loosening, and feeding with mineral fertilizers, which promotes its decorativeness and healthy growth. When transplanted into a container in autumn, the plant retains its attractive appearance until New Year, which expands its application possibilities in landscape design.
