Apomictic seedling of the 'Memory of Salamatov' variety. Originator — Central Siberian Botanical Garden, SB RAS. Authors: V.S. Simagin, V.P. Belousova. Introduced into the State Register in 1999 for the West Siberian region.
A large, robust tree, 7-8 m tall, with a medium-density, broad-pyramidal crown, densely foliated. Bark is grayish and rough. Shoots are upward-directed, light-brown, medium-sized, straight; numerous buds, yellow-brown. Vegetative buds are large, pointed-oval; generative buds are oval-oval, pressed against the shoots. Leaf is inversely egg-shaped, medium-sized, 7.5 x 4 cm, dark green, apex gradually pointed, base wedge-shaped, leaf margin serrated, smooth, no pubescence; leaf blade flat, curved downward; glands 3-4, large, yellow, bean-shaped; petiole 1.5 cm long, thin, green. Flowers in medium-dense clusters, 12-14 cm long, 35-40 flowers, flower diameter 13 mm, corolla dish-shaped, petals not closed, white, oval, apex toothed, stigma slightly higher than anthers, calyx wide-bowl-shaped, calyx lobes un-toothed; stamens about 20, 4 mm long, stigma 6 mm long. Flowering on one-year shoots.
Fruit mass 0.6-0.7 g, height 8.1 mm, width 8.2 mm, thickness 7.9 mm, rounded-truncate-heart-shaped; cup wide and small; apex rounded; skin color black, solid; flesh green, with burgundy veins, tender, juice burgundy; pedicel 1.1 cm long, thin; seed oval, slightly ribbed, mass 0.06 g, 9% of fruit mass, apex pointed, base rounded, good detachment from flesh.
Fruits are single-dimensional and attractive. Flesh juicy. Taste sour-sweet with astringency, good, score 4.3. Detachment from pedicel medium. Suitability for mechanized harvesting medium. Resistance to fruit cracking high. Variety of universal use. Fruits suitable for drying, compote and juice production. Fruits contain 23% dry matter, 12.8% sugars, 0.88% free acids, 7.9 mg/100g ascorbic acid.
Flowering at medium-early dates, in Novosibirsk — mid-3rd decade of May. Ripening medium, synchronized, at the end of the 3rd decade of July. Enters fruiting on the 3rd-4th year after planting two-year-old seedlings. Propagated by green cuttings and grafting. Lifespan of trunk about 40 years. Highly self-fertile, can be pollinated by other varieties selected at CSBS, except the 'Pлотнокистная' variety. Yield 17-22 kg per tree, at planting 5 x 3 m, 120-145 centners per hectare.
Tree, shoots and generative buds highly resistant to winter frosts. Flowers weakly resistant to spring frosts. Drought and heat resistance medium. Resistance to coccomycosis, clasterosporiosis and moniliosis high. Resistance to bacterial, viral and mycoplasma diseases not studied. Resistance to gum exudation and calcium chlorosis medium. Weakly infested by aphids, scale insects and cherry slug, strongly infested by bird cherry slug and hawthorn scale.
Advantages of the variety: self-fertility, high winter hardiness, good taste and technological qualities of fruits, stable yield.
Disadvantages of the variety: medium fruit mass.
