Apomictic seedling of the 'Memory of Salamatov' variety. Originator — Central Siberian Botanical Garden, SB RAS. Breeders: V.S. Simagin, V.P. Belousova. Introduced into the State Register in 1999 for the West Siberian region.
Tree small, 4-4.5 m tall, with an oval, sparse crown, moderately leafy. Bark grayish, rough. Shoots directed upward, light-brown, thin, straight; lenticels numerous, yellow-brown. Vegetative buds medium, narrowly oval; generative buds oval-egg-shaped, pressed against the shoot. Leaf elliptical, medium, 7 x 4 cm, light green, apex sharply pointed, base rounded, margin finely toothed, no pubescence; leaf blade flat, slightly curved downward; glands 3-4, large, yellow, bean-shaped; petiole 1.5 cm long, thin, green. Flowers in very dense clusters, 11-12 cm long, 30-35 flowers, flower diameter 16 mm, corolla saucer-shaped, petals closed, white, round-oval, stigma slightly higher than anthers, calyx wide-bowl-shaped, calyx lobes smooth-edged; stamens about 20, 4 mm long, stigma 6 mm long. Flowering on one-year-old shoots.
Fruit weighing 0.6-0.7 g, 7.3 mm high, 7.6 mm wide, 7.4 mm thick, flat-round; cup wide and small; apex rounded; skin color black, solid at full maturity; flesh light-yellow, with burgundy veins, tender, juice red; pedicel 0.5 cm long, thin; seed egg-shaped, smooth, 0.06 g, 10% of fruit weight, apex pointed, base rounded, good detachment from flesh.
Fruits are single-row, attractive. Flesh juicy. Taste sour-sweet with astringency, good, score 4.4. Detachment from pedicel difficult. Suitability for mechanical harvesting medium. Resistance to fruit cracking medium. General-purpose variety. Fruits suitable for drying, compote and juice production. Fruits contain 24.8% dry matter, 13.3% sugars, 0.84% free acids, 12.4 mg/100g ascorbic acid.
Flowering at medium-early period, in Novosibirsk in mid-May. Ripening early and uniform, in early July. Enters fruiting stage on 3-4 years after planting two-year-old saplings. Propagated by green cuttings and grafting. Tree lifespan about 30 years. Self-sterile, well-pollinated by other varieties of cherry plum selected at CSBS, except for the 'Self-fertile' variety. Yield 15-19 kg per tree, at spacing 5 x 3 m, 100-115 centners/ha.
Tree, shoots and generative buds highly resistant to winter frosts. Flowers weakly resistant to spring frosts. Drought and heat resistance medium. Resistance to coccomycosis, clasterosporiosis and moniliosis high. Resistance to bacterial, viral and mycoplasma diseases not studied. Resistance to gum exudation and chlorosis medium. Slightly affected by aphids, leaf-lice and cherry plum sawfly, strongly affected by cherry plum sawfly and hawthorn sawfly.
Advantages of the variety: high winter hardiness, good taste and technological qualities of fruits, stable yield.
Disadvantages of the variety: difficult detachment and medium fruit size, lower rooting ability than other varieties when using green cuttings.
