Sibirskaya Krasavitsa – a decorative and fruit-bearing shrub obtained by crossing the common chokecherry with the Virginia chokecherry 'Schubert'. The shrub reaches a height of 4–5 m, has a dense pyramidal crown with upright large shoots. The foliage is light green at the beginning of the season and changes to a red hue by summer; it does not fall until November, which gives the plant decorative value even after flowering.
Flowering lasts about two weeks, when the shrub is covered with white racemes with a strong pleasant aroma. The fruits are large berries, initially green, then changing to red and black hues as they ripen. They have a sweet taste, weigh about 0.7 grams, contain a lot of pectins, and are considered heat-sensitive.
Sibirskaya Krasavitsa grows fast, but growth can be controlled to 2–3 m thanks to pruning. The plant is resistant to diseases and pests (except aphids), has high frost hardiness, and develops well in sunlight. To ensure good fruiting, it is recommended to plant at least two plants, as chokecherry usually fruits in pairs.
The shrub is suitable for gardens and parks due to its decorative value and useful fruits. It is easily grown in a temperate climate and, with proper care, provides a medium yield.
